The rolls and mandrels in steel mill casting, pickling, cold rolling, continuous tinning and galvanizing lines function in challenging environments leading to erosion, corrosion and severe functional damage.
Endurance provides thermal spray HVOF/HVAF processes utilizing tungsten carbide and chromium carbide. It enhances critical equipment’s endurance and wears resistance in the steel mill industry’s continuous galvanizing and cold mill processing lines. Our TC coatings ensure the long-life serviceability of steel mill rollers despite continual use.
The first step in reducing wear and increasing endurance is understanding the component’s process. It helps
identify the protective metal coating and build its fortitude.
Endurance Wear Resistant Roll Coatings for the Steel industry | |
---|---|
Cause of Wear of components | Our recommended coating |
Abrasive wear, pickup and loss of surface roughness | Enduro-411 |
Corrosion, arc-induced pitting and abrasive wear | Enduro-520 |
Zinc and dross pick up, abrasive wear and corrosion | Enduro-910 |
The main reason for a wear resistance coating is the different temperature gradients that encounterintenseenvironments like oxidation and erosion
protection at an elevated temperature.
The dross on the roll usually occurs when there is a drastic change in the pot temperature or intermittent line stoppage.
Our specific coatings, such as Enduro910, help the Steel Industry address wear issues in the components found in the continuous galvanizing lines, tension and steering, cleaning, furnaces, entry, exit and temper mill departments.
Large rolls, like bridle, deflector or tower rolls, require special attention from an operator during spraying. Old HVOF systems quickly lose coating quality during continuous spraying and need time to cool down. It compromises the coating quality and increases costs. Our new HVAF equipment can spray the largest tower roll in a couple of hours, maintaining excellent cost-effectiveness and quality.
HVAF technology allows a more intricate and uniform tungsten carbide spray coating than the usual HVOF. The extended life of the roll coating with lesser product quality issues is a generous by-product.
Our work conditions include molten zinc, temperatures up to 460-500oC and moderate-to-mild sliding wear. It also includes zinc corrosion and zinc build-up causing dents on the strip that is being galvanized. Hence, HVAF Enduro coating has three important inclinations:
It results in a longer-lasting, impermeable spray coating.
TC coating with a mirror-like finish is the best measure to ensure the long life of step cones, capstans and wire drums in wire drawing processes.
Our HVAF technology helps extend the service of critical rolls by improving performance, reducing maintenance costs, and increasing productivity. Endurance Wear Coatings LLP is exceptional at repairing wire drawing parts with hard, wear-resistant coatings in Mumbai.
