HVOF and HVAF Stainless Steel Coatings

Endurance provides thermal spray HVAF and HVOF corrosion protection coatings with the following features

  • High hardness serves as a barrier against corrosive solutions such as seawater, mineral or organic acids.
  • Protection of base metal metal spray coating achieved through Low porosity and high bond strength preventing corrosion due to penetration of liquids
  • Materials like Stainless steel 316 and stainless steel 316 L offer high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion
  • Austenitic structure gives good toughness at cryogenic temperature.
  • Resistance against corrosion at elevated temperatures
  • High hardness 3.50˚shows better corrosion resistance coating than 316 types of alloys in H2S, H2SO4 and seawater conditions.
  • Fe-Cr-Ni and Fe-Cr-Al, HVAF sprayed coatings are successful applications where resistance against corrosion is exhibited at elevated temperatures
  • Non-permeable to gas (Gas-tight)
  • Suitable for corrosion resistant coatings for steel to abrasive wear, corrosion and erosion.
  • An alternative to flash chrome coatings.
  • A lower-cost alternative to 86-10-4 tungsten carbide coatings.

Advantages of HVAF Corrosion Protection Coatings

super-stainless HVAF hard-facing coating
  • A super-stainless HVAF hard-facing coating has been developed to withstand corrosion induced by salt and hydrogen sulphide, abrasion and environmental conditions that the housings of down hole pumps and motors of oil artificial lift equipment are exposed to during their operation.
  • Super stainless steel coatings have successfully replaced the Monel+epoxy coating on Electrical submersible pump housings.

Metal Spray Coating Characteristics

Our HVAF coating compare to other thermal spraying coating
HVAF Plasma/Twin-Wire/Flame spray HVOF/D-Gun
It exhibits the highest bond strength and lowest porosity Lower particles speed, low bond strength, high porosity level Good result, high process temperature and high oxid content
Gas-Tight coating The oxidized and porous coating Decarburization occurs for low melting elements
